Kerry Max Cook, 68, suffered a stroke on Father’s Day and was hospitalized in Houston, according to an editorial published June 25 in the Houston Chronicle.

Cook was in the hospital when he learned of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeal’s decision to exonerate him in the 1977 murder of Linda Jo Edwards in Tyler.

Cook had open heart surgery in 2015.
